Traffic Ticket Offenses

If you have been involved in a state court traffic offense, you may not know exactly what the consequences are until after the fact. The first question is, “what sort of offense is it?” Misdemeanor charges can have serious consequences, including fines, jail time, and license suspension, but even traffic tickets (ordinance violations) can start you on a downward spiral of suspensions, fines, fees, and eventually criminal charges. When you apply for a job, seek an educational loan, or look for housing, your criminal history may need to be disclosed. Fortunately, you may be eligible for an expungement under Indiana’s “Second-Chance Act.” This law allows you to seal from public view arrests, criminal charges, and convictions in most cases, subject to certain requirements. Our Indiana expungement lawyers in Northwest Indiana focus on helping individuals clear their criminal records by providing DNA and eviction records expungements. We will review your situation and advise you on how best to achieve your goals in attaining the second chance that you deserve.

If you are serving time for an Indiana state court crime, you may be eligible to apply for a sentence modification. Our Indiana state court attorneys will evaluate your situation and give you an honest assessment of whether we believe there is a way to lessen your sentence, either through sentence modification, filing for Post Conviction Relief (PCR), or some other mechanism like a Community Transition Court.

Probation Violations

If a court determines you have violated a condition of your state court probation or federal court supervised release, you run the risk of spending time in prison. Given the seriousness of the potential consequences of such violations, you absolutely need a lawyer. The criminal defense attorneys from Stracci Law Group will carefully review your situation and work with you and your family to pave the best path forward to protect your freedom.

Juvenile Crimes

Almost every act that is a crime if committed by an adult can form the basis for a juvenile delinquency petition. From simple misdemeanors like trespass to major felonies like aggravated battery or sex crimes, the State can allege that the child's actions would have been a crime if they were an adult. Our juvenile crime lawyers in Northwest Indiana defend minors charged with criminal offenses. We understand how to navigate the juvenile justice system, advocate for our clients' rights, and work towards positive outcomes like rehabilitation and reduced sentencing.

Firearms Rights Restoration

If you are a convicted felon in Indiana, then you are not eligible to own or possess a firearm. In fact, if you have been convicted of a crime of “domestic violence” in Indiana, you may have lost your gun rights too. Stracci Law Group may be able to help. What are the steps involved in a criminal case in Indiana?

Indiana state and federal cases typically involve the following steps: arrest, initial hearing, arraignment, pre-trial conferences, plea bargaining, trial, verdict, sentencing, and appeals. During these stages, the prosecutor and defense attorney present evidence, examine witnesses, and make legal arguments. The judge (by plea agreement) or jury (by trial) determine guilt or innocence. If your case results in a conviction, the judge will impose penalties as required by law.
